Question: What Is OOMF?
So, one of your friends trolled you on Facebook, and you thought you’d name and shame them. It turns out that it was all just one big misunderstanding, and now everybody thinks that your friend did that thing, when they didn’t do that thing, and oh, what a mess! If only you’d known about OOMF!
Answer: OOMF stands for “one of my friends” or “one of my followers.” It’s usually used to throw shade on a culprit without naming them. So, you might say, “OOMF gave me a bad review,” or “OOMF just gave me the most amazing gift, and it’s not even my birthday!” OOMF can also refer to everybody in the whole damn world. It’s confusing. Whether you’re nagging or bragging, OOMF is the way to do it covertly, with dignity, and without embarrassing the other person. In a world where everybody knows everybody’s business online, that’s got to be a good thing, right?
