Question: What Is GG?
Okay, so you love computer games. You love teaming up with other players and, together, destroying cities, massacring entire alien races and shooting up drug dealers. The only thing is, you want to be polite as well as a deadly force to be reckoned with. Is that possible? Can you really be a cold-blooded killer with manners? Damn right you can!
Answer: GG stands for “good game,” but it doesn’t originate from a Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game, or even a polite round of Real Time Strategy gaming. Back in 1999, a set of etiquette rules were published on the Internet Chess Club. One of the rules stated that it would be sporting to say a quick GG following a game. This didn’t always go down too well with the losers, mind you, especially if they’d just been crushed.
